Charlene Curry grew up as a coal miner’s daughter in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. At the age of 18, she married her childhood sweetheart, Jerry Curry, who went on to become Major General Jerry Curry. Together they began an adventure that took them around the world, with postings to Germany, Korea and across the United States. As First Lady to General Curry, Charlene entertained heads of state and dignitaries from all around the world, especially during her husband’s role as Commander for the Military District of Washington, and then during his high level presidential appointments in the Carter, Reagan and Bush administrations.
